Projects are the fundamental building blocks of human productivity. Everything we do is a project or one of its contributing sub elements , a task or an activity. We all conduct projects every day, organizing you child’s birthday party, going on holiday , creating a product, fixing your car. For this reason we need to manage projects as part of our everyday life and our ability to do so successfully is the measure of how effective we are at getting things done . Jones on Projects explores projects and their management , the factors which affect their successful completion and ways we can improve the number of successful outcomes. To illustrate this I will share some of the projects that I am concurrently working on . |

Is a Jones’ family program to establish Gareth into the World Superbike Championships by 2011. The project is already some 7 years old as Gareth started to race motorbikes in 2001 The project exhibits all the features of a full blown business it has human, technology , product marketing, and financial aspects which need to be balanced . It has distinct phase boundaries ie Races combined with strict deadlines, measurable outcomes plus a significant risk factor which needs to be managed. Current Status: At 22 the likeable young Queenslander is NZ Supersport Champion and was third in the 2009 Superbike Series. He is also the holder of New Zealand Grand Prix titles for 1000cc and 600c bikes. This season he is leading the Dutch ONK Superbike championship after 4 rounds, finished 7th in the FIM Superstock 1000 round at Assen and was 2nd on debut in the German IDM Superbike championship in Oschersleben. |
